Mental Health is an Asset, Not a Liability

I see mental health as not just something that matters; rather it is an asset that has the power to create change and freedom. I know, mental health setbacks don’t exactly have a good reputation; after all, who would voluntarily choose to have mental health difficulties. However, what if we turned the argument on its head and in a way were welcoming mental health setbacks … In my practice, that is what I choose to do. I see mental health as a vehicle towards important change. I recognise that mental health setbacks can give us fantastic clues as to what we can do right now in order to create a better life for ourselves in this moment. Ignoring what our minds are telling us is ignoring the possibilities we have for change right now. Conversely, paying attention to our inner experiences, mental health included, means we are taking charge by creating new opportunities for us and those around us.
